We are seeking energetic, Electrical Designer/Project Manager to join our Burnaby office to take on a leading role in the performance engineering on construction projects throughout the lower mainland and Canada-wide. Projects range from mixed-use residential, commercial, through to complex and specialized institutional, healthcare and process facilities. This role will see you working from home with the possibility to operate safely from the office if preferred.
The successful applicant would assume a leading role in our growing design engineering department, working directly with the senior leadership team at CES.

1. Primary Job Duties:
Design Engineering:
® Perform engineering studies into the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of electrical systems in new and/or existing buildings.
® Design of electrical systems (Electrical Distribution, Lighting, Fire Alarm, Security and Access Control, Communication, and IT systems)
® Prepare design documentation including:
o Preparation of systems drawings in AutoCAD
o Engineering Studies (load calculation and reports)
o Equipment selection and sizing
o Preparation of specification documents
® Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports, and design specifications for mechanical and electrical systems,
® Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for construction or maintenance.
® Construction Contract Administration
o Shop drawings review and approval
o RFI responses
o Site inspection and reporting
o Contractor payment certification
Provide Engineering Support on Commissioning Projects:
® Execute performance testing of building Electrical, Communications and Electronic, Safety and Security systems in cooperation with installing contractors, and specialty equipment vendors.
® Liaising with designers, contractors, and equipment vendors for pre-commissioning workshop meeting to confirm controls integration design intent between low-voltage systems such as Lighting Controls, Metering, and Building Automation Systems.
® Develop and lead execution of Integrated Systems Operational Testing to confirm integrated response of Fire Alarm and other life-safety systems (CAN/ULC S1001)
® Perform 3rd party technical reviews of electrical systems design.
® Development of standardized Performance Testing Procedures for typical electrical and LV systems
2. Education
A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
3. Credentials
(certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.)
Preference for EIT or P.Eng registered with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
4. Experience
Minimum 3+ years experience in design of building systems electrical distribution and lighting in the Canadian market with a Canadian consulting firm.
5. Core Skills
· Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills are a must.
· Applicant shall be commercially aware and capable of working well under pressure within a team.
· Strong written English skills and confident interpersonal communication skills are of particular importance, as the position involves daily interaction with trade contractors, engineers, facility management personnel, attendance of construction site meetings and reporting to contractors, design consultants, owner representatives and other project stakeholders.
· Above all, you'll be a team player who has high standards and is eager to learn and grow within our organization.
