We are looking for a Full Time Youth Worker for our Youth Shelter in Medicine Hat.
Here is how you will contribute as a Full Time Youth Worker with the Roots Youth Shelter.
o Provide care, support, and supervision for up to four youth ages 12-17 in a youth shelter setting using a trauma-informed, strengths-based, participant-centered approach.
o Create positive interactions to enhance social skills, recreational opportunities, and connection to the community for youth.
o Demonstrate knowledge of a wide variety of intervention strategies.
o Willing to work a flexible schedule to support the needs of the program and participants; shifts will include a combination of day, evening, and overnight hours. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 4:30pm pm to 8:30 am and open 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday.
This is a full-time position (40 hours a week) that is made up of 4 - 10 hour shifts on a 5-week rotation.
The shifts consist of:
· 1:00pm-11:00pm
· 2:00pm-12:00am
· 9:00am-7:00pm
· 11:00pm-9:00am *6 awake shifts in total per 5-week rotation

Here is what you need to get an interview:
o Child and Youth Care Certificate or Diploma in a related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
o Six months’ experience in human services.
o Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching and intervention skills.
o Strong computer skills.
o Current Standard First Aid CPR Level C Certificate or CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid Certificate
o Clear Child Intervention Record Check, dated within the past six months.
o Clear Police Information Check with vulnerable sector, dated within past six months.
o Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, Driver’s Abstract, and use of reliable vehicle with $2M Third Party Liability insurance.
