This is a contract position with a Family Counselling and Mediation company in St. Albert Alberta. You are required to have training in mediation, negotiation, conflict resolution, alternative dispute resolution and it would be asset to have specialized training in divorce and separation in Alberta. As a contractor you would be required to have you own liability insurance. The position is based on client needs and you will be paid in commissions based on hours worked and completed mediations. For the interview you will be asked to provide a video of a mediation session and a copy of a draft mediated agreement.
Duties:
- Facilitate communication and negotiation between parties involved in disputes or conflicts
- Help parties identify their interests, needs, and goals
- Assist parties in generating options for resolution and exploring potential solutions
- Guide parties through the negotiation process and help them reach mutually acceptable agreements
- Maintain neutrality and impartiality throughout the mediation process
- Document agreements reached during mediation sessions
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., law, psychology, social work)
- Certification or training in mediation or alternative dispute resolution
- Proven experience as a mediator in resolving conflicts and disputes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Familiarity with legal principles and procedures related to mediation
