Position Overview:
As a Senior Draftsperson at Almac Metal Industries Ltd., you will play a crucial role in our design and engineering team. Your primary responsibility will be to produce detailed and accurate shop drawings, assembly drawings, and erection plans for metal building projects. You will collaborate closely with clients, estimators, engineers, and project managers to translate design concepts into functional and constructible drawings. Your technical proficiency and meticulous approach will contribute to the successful execution of our projects.
Responsibilities:
- Generate detailed shop drawings, assembly drawings, and erection plans for metal building projects, utilizing 2D AutoCAD software.
- Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements to accurately translate design concepts into comprehensive drawings.
- Collaborate with clients, estimators, engineers, and project managers to ensure the alignment of design intent and project requirements.
- Review and analyze project specifications, contracts, and blueprints to identify design constraints and project scope.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards in all design documentation.
- Coordinate with internal departments, including engineering and manufacturing, to resolve design-related issues and optimize constructability.
- Conduct thorough quality checks on drawings to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as subcontractors and suppliers, to incorporate their input into design drawings.
- Manage and maintain drawing archives and revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in metal building design and drafting.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Draftsperson in the metal building or construction industry, with expertise in self-framing and rigid frame building systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- In-depth knowledge of metal building design principles, components, and construction methodologies.
- Strong understanding of architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and building codes.
- Structural steel design experience would be a definite asset.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and error-free drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address design challenges and optimize constructability.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to lead a team of in-house and contract drafts people.
- Diploma or degree in drafting, architecture, engineering, or a related field is required.
- Familiarity with BIM software and 3D modeling tools is a plus.
