Engineer, Project Execution

Location: Churchill Falls
We currently have an opening in the Project Execution Department for a Project Engineer situated in Churchill Falls. As the successful candidate, you will bring experience in site/field engineering support and project execution. You work equally well as a technical member of the team or guiding other members. Your technical and project delivery skills and experience combined with excellent communication skills will allow you to make significant contributions to the project delivery lifecycle on Hydro assets. You will provide site/field engineering support, prepare project plans, and facilitate project close-outs and final documentation. . At certain times, you may be expected to prepare contract documents and technical specifications for a wide variety of projects, evaluate tenders, prepare evaluation reports and recommend award. You may also monitor project progress through all phases to ensure compliance with schedules, technical and commercial specifications.
Responsibilities:
You will join a multi-discipline team working in a project delivery environment responsible to design and execute projects. This position supports technical and project execution activities and may include completing various site engineering duties including site assessments and data gathering, consultant and construction oversight, support for and/or acting as a project manager, preparation of project proposals (capital & operating), preparation of project progress reports, involvement in preparing project estimates, schedules, resource requirements, forecasting, project management from initiation through design, construction, commissioning and closeout, contract management and change management, tender preparation and bid evaluations, provide onsite support during construction and commissioning. Your role will provide a key interface between the operations and maintenance team and the project execution team.
Job Requirements:
You have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and are, or eligible to be, a registered member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) with a minimum of 5 years relevant multi-disciplinary project experience including Civil, Mechanical and Electrical. The ideal candidate enjoys working in field and site locations as an engineer and/or as the project manager with a range of work experiences such as engineering design, concept development, project management, construction, administration, operation and maintenance, commissioning, performance testing and evaluation, as well as in leading and coaching technical personnel. You must exhibit flexibility, the capability to effectively assess situations, build and execute solutions; easily build working relationships; be a competent team builder and coach; have proficient written and oral communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. You must possess a valid driver license.
