MacEwan University is seeking an experienced individual for Program Director, Training and Educational Development for a full-time continuing opportunity with the School of Continuing Education.
The Program Director, Training and Educational Development provides leadership for the educational development team and non-credit programming. The director provides expertise and support in leading, planning, developing, and delivering on-line, blended and face to face courses and programs within the School of Continuing Education for domestic and international students. This involves working with staff, faculty, instructors, and external stakeholders, including business and industry to develop and maintain high-quality instructional approaches using a variety of modalities and learning platforms that incorporate instructional design standards; providing workshops, mentoring and support; identifying new evidence- based practices and assessment tools. This position also leads the non-credit programming and corporate training, provides OOS supervision, leadership, and guidance to a diverse team of MSA, contract, and sessional positions. This position is part of the school’s senior leadership and works collaboratively with the Associate Dean, Director of Finance and Dean.
Key responsibilities include:

In conjunction with the Associate Dean, leads the non-credit programs within SCE in terms of strategic direction, cutting edge educational approaches, technology adoption and utilization and quality and service standards.

Supports the teams to ensure a client (internal/external) and student focused approach.

Provides direct oversight and support to the senior program managers.

Leads the direction for non-credit corporate and professional training as well as International Professional Development, with the Senior program manager and Dean’s office.

Leads the development of curriculum development and changes to existing courses and programs in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

In consultation with others develops new approaches, tools and processes relating to the design and delivery of credentials (including micro-credentials) courses, workshops, and programs for a diverse student group.

In consultation with CTL supports faculty and staff with issues and training needs on MacEwan's LMS.

Determines priorities in consultation with others and works collaboratively with staff, instructors, subject matter experts and industry partners in the design and development of programs, course frameworks and learning materials including rubrics and evaluation.

Advises staff and works with stakeholders in developing programs, proposals, and grant applications.

Monitors assigned projects and activities including identifying project status, analyzing, and identifying any variances, identifying risks, suggesting project improvements, and implementing and monitoring any change requirements.
SKILLS

Knowledge in the design and development of on-line learning and face to face courses; strong teaching and facilitation ability.

Experience in quantitative and qualitative research projects within an educational context.

Knowledge of course planning and assessment including competency-based learning.

Possession of excellent project management skills. Must be able to manage projects through various stages: from planning (including conducting research using a variety of resources), through management of the execution of the project, to evaluation.

Awareness of trends and changes in continuing education, adult education, and credit program instruction.

Ability to work under pressure on multiple tasks.

Possession of excellent writing and oral communication skills. Proofreading skills are also required, including working knowledge of APA style, grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Knowledge of learning management systems.

Experience and comfort working in a diverse environment.

Sound understanding of EDI principles and practices.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a Master’s degree in (adult) education, educational leadership, or related field.

Minimum of five years’ experience teaching adult learners, facilitating workshops and working in curriculum development/instructional design at a post-secondary institution.

Minimum of 5 years in a leadership position.

Experience in corporate or contract training.
-
Experience with International training or student recruitment would be considered an asset.

Experience in the Health sector would be considered an asset.

Preference will be given to candidates with additional qualifications or knowledge of continuing education, adult learning, on-line learning and corporate Learning and Development.
