Our House Addiction Recovery Centre (Our House) is a one-year residential recovery centre for adult men. We help individuals embark on a recovery process, leading to meaningful and productive lives. Our facility houses 60 men in a supportive environment where they work to overcome their challenges in a non-institutional setting. As a full-time Addictions Support Worker, you will be part of our clinical team dedicated to providing support to the brave men within our facility. Your primary duties include ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff and contributing to a therapeutic environment. All work at Our House will reflect the Mission and Value statements of the organization.
Schedule:
Two schedules can be accommodated at the successful candidate’s preference.
SCHEDULE #1 = Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday / 2:30pm - 12:30am / 32 hrs per week
SCHEDULE #2 = Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday / 4:30pm - 12:30am / 30 hrs per week
There is an understanding that cover-off or assistance outside of these regularly scheduled hours may be required. There is a possibility for additional hours (up to 40 hours per week) in cover-off situations. The position will have a probation period of 3 months.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
· Monitor client activities and provide effective intervention in crisis situations.
· Monitor evening program activities.
· Monitor incoming/outgoing people and direct visitors appropriately.
· Act as an advocate for clients.
· Support clients as needed with a trauma-informed, compassionate, clinical lens.
· Perform drug testing as required.
· Provide medication dispensing to clients during scheduled medication times, document all incoming medications and update client medical information.
· Conduct room searches.
· Maintain daily shift report by documenting information/observations/impressions of client activities that affect other clients and/or the treatment centre.
· Discharge clients as require.
· Accept community donations in an appropriate manner.
· Work cooperatively and effectively with other staff, volunteers, and clients.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Degree or diploma in addiction, social work, psychology, or related field is required.
· Minimum of 1-3 years experience in the field.
· Knowledge and experience in the addictions and mental health field is required.
· Understanding of a non-profit organization is an asset.
· Knowledge of the 12-step program.
· Ability to work with a client-centered care and trauma informed philosophy.
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
· Complex trauma training required.
· Criminal record check approved by the Executive Director.
· First Aid and CPR certifications are required, and training will be supplied if applicable.
· Medication training is required, and training will be supplied if applicable.
· Must be able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity with men of diverse economic and cultural background.

Evening Support Worker

As an Evening Support Worker, you will provide supportive care to clients with addictions during the evening and/or weekend operations of the centre. Your primary duties include ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff, and contributing to a therapeutic environment.
All work at Our House will reflect the Mission and Vision statements of the organization. We offer a warm work environment and looking for someone to work onsite Friday – Monday, 4:30pm – 12:30am for a total of 32 regularly scheduled hours per week. There is an understanding that cover-off or assistance outside of these regularly scheduled hours may be required.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor client activities and provide effective intervention in crisis situations.
- Monitor evening program activities (e.g. 12 step meetings) of clients.
- Monitor incoming/outgoing people and direct visitors appropriately.
- Provide medication dispensing to clients during scheduled medication times, document all incoming medications and updated client medical information.
- Maintain daily shift report by documenting information/observations/impressions of client activities that affect other clients and/or the treatment centre.
- Discharge clients who break non-negotiable rules.
- Monitor, document, and post client infractions.
- Work cooperatively and effectively with other staff, volunteers, and clients.
- Accept all donations in an appropriate manner (including the coordination of Sunday bread delivery)
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Admissions & Outreach Manager.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience in the addictions and/or mental health fields is required.
- Understanding of a non-profit organization is an asset.
