About our Operation
Our Red Lake Operation is located in an area where you will experience the best in Northern lifestyle, in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region in Sunset Country. Red Lake is known for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and incredible Canadian fishing in the many freshwater lakes in the area. The Red Lake district is located 180 kilometers north of Dryden about 100 kilometers from the Manitoba border in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It spans 42,000 hectares and has produced over 29 million ounces of gold since 1949. Our Red Lake Operation includes underground mining and processing complexes in Balmertown and Cochenour, as well as the Bateman Project. As Evolution’s newest asset and our first in North America, we are excited by the opportunities here.
About the role
Reporting to the Metallurgical Superintendent, the Senior Metallurgist is responsible for monitoring and optimising metallurgical performance of the Processing Plant.
Key result areas in this role include:
Monitors and optimises plant performance to reduce processing costs, increase plant efficiency and increase throughput
Custodian of the metallurgical accounting system
Supervising plant metallurgist and site laboratory staff
Completing scheduled tasks in a timely manner with appropriate prioritisation of work
Providing coverage for the Metallurgical Superintendent and Plant Metallurgist as required
Working within and comply with the Evolution Mining and RLO site-specific safety and health management and environment management systems
Understanding and complying with requirements of environmental approvals and relevant environment, health, and safety legislation.
About you
You will be an experienced and collaborative Metallurgist with strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
It is also important that you have/can demonstrate:
Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or Mineral Dressing
Plant operating experience with exposure to comminution, flotation, leaching and adsorption, elution and cyanide destruct
Leadership experience advantageous
Driver’s licence
Test work procedure and development skills
Ability to identify opportunities for improvement through improving work practices or procedures
Can interpret plant data and trends
