This position is accountable for organizing and leading the Technical Service department within a Steel Service Centre environment with a focus on resolving product application issues received from customers and internal stakeholders. Having an extensive knowledge of products, processes, customers, and vendors you will leverage your metallurgical expertise to influence outcomes. A collaborative approach working with a diverse set of stakeholders, to bridge all internal functional areas in meeting and exceeding customer expectations in resolving their technical challenges as they relate to our products. Manage, coach, mentor, and develop a proactive, highly-skilled team of multifaceted professionals who meet agreed objectives and add value by continuously improving the organization through establishment and deliverance of best-practice results.
Contribute to the corporate bottom line by achieving strategic goals and objectives while maximizing downstream stakeholder satisfaction.
Leading the resolution of customer complaints or concerns through the use of industry best practices while mitigating any negative financial impact on the organization..
Promote operational excellence by being the voice of the customer to internal stakeholders, incorporating distilled findings into Venture/Gat’s internal knowledge bank for optimized outcomes.
Enhance supply chain value by counselling the Purchasing team on vendor performance, product/service capabilities and coordinating upstream feedback with an aim to maximize recovery in nonconforming scenarios.
Provide leadership of continuous improvement strategies by setting forth measures for corrective actions that are optimizations of or alternatives to current methodologies.
Act as the lead subject matter expert on all things related to specifications for steel and aluminum, helping to build the knowledge base within Venture in support of retaining our position as the industry’s preferred service provider.
Collaborate with Finance/Accounting staff to examine and choose the best approaches to resolve and execute financial transactions related to supplier and customer claim files.
Cooperating in close partnership with the IT department, contributing to functionality optimization of our in house ERP system as it relates to specifications and the design of our error proofing business systems.
Shepherd the Technical Service department by utilizing managerial tools and interpersonal skills to determine departmental strategy, develop action plans, motivate personnel, oversee resource allotment, effectively communicate needs, and proclaiming results to all pertinent stakeholders.
