Veterinary Assistant
Duties:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing care to animals
- Prepare examination rooms and equipment for procedures
- Restrain animals during examinations and treatments
- Clean and sanitize examination rooms, equipment, and kennels
-Greeting clients; differentiating routine cases from emergency cases; scheduling appointments; entering client, patient, and financial data into the computer; generating invoices and explaining them to clients; processing payments;
- Managing the retrieval and storage of medical records - complete inventory tasks as needed; animal handling and husbandry; setting up for medical procedures and surgeries; and supporting veterinarians and veterinary technologists with daily treatments and care of patients.
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and veterinary staff
- Ability to handle animals with care and compassion
- Attention to detail to accurately collect and record data
- Basic knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common diseases
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and performing basic laboratory tests
- Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment
