Position Title: Community Connections Worker

Summary
Impact North Shore community connections programming aims to create a sense of belonging, foster social cohesion, enhance employment readiness, and offer opportunities for informal language learning. Conversation Circles provide an informal and enjoyable approach to learning English, where participants improve their language skills, cultivate friendships, and expand their social networks. The Community
Connections Worker is pivotal in achieving these objectives, working collaboratively with our Intake Team, Volunteer Coordinator, and Settlement Team members to ensure seamless service delivery. The Community Connections worker will collaborate with multiple teams to ensure service delivery of conversation circles and overall Community
Connections deliverables are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides eligible Community Connections’ conversation circle services to individuals, families and the community on the telephone, through email and in-person as needed
- Plans, coordinates, and implements various activities to engage newcomers through conversation circles community-based group events/workshops and targeted matching
- Collaborates with Settlement and Centralized intake team members to deliver shared programming and ensure activities meet contractual requirements
- Conducts activity tracking, and statistical reporting as per contract requirements and in accordance with reporting timelines
- Plans and monitors community Connections conversation circles service deliverables to identify and create service responses to emerging trends and needs; utilizes best practice responses as appropriate
- Assesses service and referral gaps for Community Connections conversation circles activities and makes programming recommendations to the Manager of Language Programs
- Reviews, assesses and makes recommendations to continually improve data quality to meet funder and agency requirements
- Completes service data entry, review and assessment, as required
- Ensures all outcome and client satisfaction surveys are compiled and assessed
- Creates marketing materials and ensures on-going promotion of activities to newcomers and the broader community
- Ensures service activities are scheduled, and all operational requirements are met (for example, room rental, childcare, and service partner MOUs are signed)
- Collaborate with sessional contractors for services delivery
- Ensures all administrative requirements for conversation circles management are met
- Performs all administrative tasks as needed
- Other related duties as required by the Manager of Language Programs

Minimum Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in community development, community engagement or similar field
- Education and training in volunteer management, adult education, or ESL is considered an asset
- 2+ years experience with settlement programming coordination, volunteer engagement, and informal language programming
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships among multiple stakeholders
- Proven record of meeting contract deliverables and reporting
- Strong writing skills and verbal communication
- Able to identify barriers to services to promote equity and inclusion for a diverse client population
- Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds

Additional Information
- Salary Range: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Work Schedule: 35 hours / per week Monday to Friday
- Contract end date: March 31, 2024 (Extension subject to funding)
- This is a hybrid position that involves regular attendance in-office with some flexibility to work from home.
