Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and guide the Heating and Power Service Mechanics and Industrial Control Electricians teams, ensuring a safe working environment and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Cultivate robust relationships within the Facilities department, Nordion, and lessees of site assets, ensuring a seamless and collaborative operational approach.
Drive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Quality goals, with a focus on meeting training requirements and responding to EHS work requests.
Deliver exceptional internal customer service, consistently exceeding expectations.
Represent the company to external regulatory bodies and actively participate in audits.
Collaborate with external consultants, coordinating project functions to achieve successful outcomes.
Strategically manage site development in alignment with Nordion's growth plan, optimizing company assets for the long term.
Oversee repair and maintenance projects, ensuring adherence to regulatory codes and specifications.
Efficiently manage team resources and project management methods to satisfy Facilities team customers and meet project objectives.
Implement performance measurement systems to support both internal and external customer groups.
Prepare, monitor, and analyze repairs and maintenance budgets, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
Provide technical expertise for base building systems, maintaining a strong relationship with lessees and facilitating communication on capital expenditures.
Act as Technical Design Authority for relevant Facilities systems.
Act as a backup for the Senior Facilities Manager and Facilities Manager – Building Maintenance and Motor Pool Facilities Operators.

Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, demonstrating a strong educational & practical foundation for the role.
Holds a Professional Engineer designation within the Province of Ontario, reflecting a dedicated commitment to upholding industry excellence and standards.

Training Required: Must complete all required training and certification as a Nuclear Energy Worker
A Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) is defined by the Nuclear Safety and Control Act as a person who is required, in the course of the person’s business, or occupation in connection with a nuclear substance or nuclear facility to perform duties in such circumstances that there is a reasonable probability that the person may receive a dose of radiation that is greater than the prescribed limit for the general public (1 mSv per year for the whole body).
